Firefighters worked to prevent flames from spreading to a factory in Leicester on Thursday October 25th after a blaze broke out at a shisha bar on the roof of the building.
According to the Leicester Mercury, the incident occurred at the Cloud 9 cafe atop the Curzonia Knitwear factory on Birstall Street in the St Matthew’s area of the city at around 11.15am. Ream more »

A SHISHA bar has become the first venue in Derby to be fined for flouting the smoking ban.

The law, introduced in England on July 1, 2007, stopped people from smoking in any indoor public places like pubs, clubs and restaurants.
If they smoke outside, under shelters, the structures must be “substantially open”.

A shisha bar which opened without planning permission has been allowed to continue operating. Licensing officers at Leicester City Council had recommended that members of the planning and development committee reject a planning application for Double Apple, in Green Lane Road, North Evington, Leicester. But councillors allowed owner Shahin Surtee to keep running the business, which is in a car park, for one year.

HPB aims to stub out shisha smoking

12 local and international youth volunteers prowled the lanes of Kampong Glam on Friday evening to spread the word on the harmful effects of shisha smoking.

This is part of the Health Promotion Board’s (HPB) first shisha awareness programme in Singapore.
