For thousands of Americans, electronic cigarettes (or e-cigs as they are sometimes called) have been a “miracle” that has helped them quit smoking, or, at the very least, drastically reduced it. But not everyone is a fan of electronic cigarettes and lawmakers in New York are hurriedly attempting to ban the sale of them in the state. Hearing the anti-electronic cigarette news from state lawmakers across the country, retail giant Walmart has backed away from the sale of the controversial items.

NY Bill Would Ban ‘E-Cigarettes’ Until FDA Action

Backers of electronic cigarettes are watching legislation that could make New York the first state in the nation to ban the devices widely advertised on the Internet as a way to help quit smoking.
A key vote in the state Assembly Health Committee could be cast as early as Tuesday.

King County health panel stamps out e-cigarettes

King County Board of Health members restricted sales and use of electronic cigarettes last month.
The e-cigarette is a battery-powered device designed to deliver a nicotine-based and flavored liquid vapor.
The board voted unanimously to restrict the sales of e-cigarettes or any other unapproved nicotine delivery devices only to people 18 and older. The board prohibited free or highly discounted electronic smoking devices or unapproved nicotine delivery products. The use of e-cigarette devices in places where smoking is prohibited by law is also banned. Ream more »

Quitting smoking ranks as one of the nation’s top New Year’s resolutions, among 12 self-improvement goals that are popular year after year.
In a quest to quit tobacco, some smokers are replacing cartons of cigarettes with cartridges of nicotine, used in electronic cigarettes. E-cigarettes are odorless, cigarette-sized, battery-powered tubes that release liquid nicotine as a vapor.

Cigarettes used to be a stress reliever for Katherine Heigl, but now the 31-year-old actress is definitively proclaiming that “smoking sucks” – except when it comes to electronic cigarettes. Heigl, whose movie “Life As We Know It” opens on October 8, told Parade magazine that an electronic cigarette has been a life-saver for the past six months.

“I know it sound’s ridiculous, but it’s helping me not to actually smoke real cigarettes,” Heigl said. “You feel like you are smoking, and you get to exhale but it’s just water vapor and not nicotine.” Ream more »

An atomizer vaporizes nicotine infused e-liquid, which is triggered by a micro sensor every time you inhale from the e-cig, giving you lush plumes of white vapor.
