The illicit farms, in remote locations roughly 10 miles northeast of Cedar City in the Summit Valley area, were discovered and reported to authorities early last week.
Officers from Garfield and Kane counties, as well as the Utah Highway Patrol, assisted in the raids, which began around sunrise Thursday. A helicopter also was in the air, assisting in the harvesting of the plants.
There was no confirmation of any arrests as of Thursday afternoon.
A Sheriff’s Office dispatcher did not immediately release further details, other than to confirm the operation was ongoing into Thursday afternoon.
