According to a new study conducted by the Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center, it was revealed that may be obese teens are more intense with risky behaviors such as smoking, drinking and use of drugs; they also have risky sexual and suicidal behaviors.
The study, which was conducted by Zeller and colleagues, involved almost 9,000 teens.
The study is unexpected of the thoughts that social seclusion and shame does not let them involve in such stuff. Even, the study revealed that girls are more likely to have sex while they are drunk and high.
The study explained that obese girls are more likely to indulge in smoke and tobacco in comparison to the healthier girls.
Researchers urged physicians to take some steps for the prevention of obese people from the risky behaviors. They explained that obese teens need a better understanding of their mental and physical states.
Meg H. Zeller, Ph. D., said, “It’s critical to understand them in the broader context of adolescence and what kind of care they’re going to need in the long term”.
The study explained that overweight girls before the age of 13 may get involve in sex with multiple sexual partner.
