A domestic incident Tuesday led to the seizure of several pounds marijuana in Clarksville, police say.

Clarksville Police Department officers were dispatched to the 600 block of Tucker Avenue in reference to a report of a domestic situation in progress, according to a CPD news release. When officers arrived, they heard screaming coming from the rear of the house.

As the officers entered the backyard, they saw a female running out of the residence followed by 22-year-old Zachary Laden. The couple ran back into the residence when they saw police, and the officers followed.

While inside the residence, police observed a large amount of marijuana on the floor, according to the news release. Laden gave officers permission to search the residence, and the officers found a locked door at the rear of the residence. Laden unlocked the door at the officers’ request, and police found several items used to grow marijuana as well as nine marijuana plants.

The plants and loose substance combined weighed 3.1 pounds, according to police.

Laden was preliminarily charged with domestic battery, possession of marijuana, dealing marijuana, possession of paraphernalia and maintaining a common nuisance. He posted bond Tuesday and was released.
