Renato DeBartolo must report May 30 to begin serving the sentence that recently was handed down for his conviction for the manufacture of marijuana, according to the U.S. District Court in South Bend.
On Friday, DeBartolo also entered a guilty plea in LaPorte Circuit Court to Class D felony theft for stealing electricity to power his indoor growing operation.
The plea calls for a two-year sentence on work release to be served while he is doing his time in prison.
He must also payAmerican Electric Power Co.$13,000 for the stolen electricity.
According to court documents, more than 200 marijuana plants were found by Indiana State Police in January 2011 inside a pole barn where DeBartolo lived.
