A medical-marijuana provider with a previous conviction for murder was sentenced to nearly 10 years in federal prison Tuesday after pleading guilty to shooting off guns from a car.

Supervisors adopt marijuana cultivation urgency ordinance

After listening to more than five hours of public input, the Lake County Board of Supervisors (BOS) adopted an urgency medical marijuana cultivation ordinance Monday during a special meeting inside Fritch Hall at the Lake County Fairgrounds.

A burly-looking man walked into T’s Smoke Shop in the St. Joe Plaza on Friday and asked for a packet of Rack City incense.

The glass display case contained packets of incense labeled “Cloud 9 Mad Hatter” and “Barely Legal” but no Rack City. The store was sold out, the clerk said.

Peace of Mind, a new Central Avenue smoke shop, welcomes the announcement by the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office that it will enforce a ban on synthetic marijuana, sold under brand names that include K2, Spice and Incense.

Staff at Peace of Mind said that the shop at 1428 Central Ave. never has sold synthetic marijuana, known to lead to psychotic behavior in some users. Ream more »

A Maysville man is facing felony drug charges after Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers seized 20 pounds of marijuana, valued at more than $45,000, following a traffic stop in Shelby County, Ohio.
Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers stopped a 2005 Chevrolet Tahoe for a speed violation and following too closely on Interstate 75, near milepost 102, at 6:42 a.m., Friday. Ream more »

Berkeley resident sentenced to prison for running marijuana operation

Last Friday, Berkeley resident Huy Trinh was sentenced to 15 years in prison for leading a marijuana cultivation operation.

A criminal complaint against Trinh, 45, and operation participants Lan Jin, of Berkeley, and Andy Wong, of Oakland, was filed with the court by a special agent of the FBI on April 30, 2010. Ream more »
