Cigar Lounge Plans Berlin Opening

The Globe Theater in Berlin will be receiving a new neighbor next month in the form of a cigar lounge.

John’s Premium Cigar and Tobacco Company plans on opening a store and lounge at 14 Broad St on March 11. While most of the details are already worked out, the owners still had to receive permission from the Historic District Commission in regards to signage.

Premium handmade cigars hot in Macau

As Macau builds its reputation as an entertainment hub, the trade in premium handmade cigars is booming.
The city is already Asia’s third-biggest market, behind Hong Kong and Japan, industry insiders say.
“Hong Kong and Japan represent together around 60 percent of the market, with Macau having a market share of 8 percent to 9 percent,” says Laurent de Rougemont, managing director of Bluebell Hong Kong Ltd, an importer and distributor of luxury goods that represents brands such as Davidoff cigarettes. Imperial sparks up a cigar to celebrate sales growth

A growing number of super-rich Chinese puffing away on Imperial Tobacco’s luxury Cuban cigars helped the Montecristo maker deliver better than expected sales for the last three months of 2010.
The Bristol- based firm behind Lambert & Butler and Golden Virginia surprised the market with a return to Imperial sales growth following a difficult 12 months in which fewer smokers sparked up in Russia, Spain and the Ukraine.
Demand for value brands and sales of its products in emerging markets boosted cigarette volumes, up 0.5pc, and total stick volumes (cigarette and fine-cut tobacco), up 1.2pc.

Cuba Creates Cigars for Women

Worldwide Cuban cigar distributor Habanos S.A. has announced the release of a cigar made especially for women: the Romeo y Julieta Julieta, a 4 ¾-inch long, 33 ring gauge petit cigar.
Habanos said the Julieta size was created not only to please female cigar smokers, but in honor of the company’s female employees who are essential to the manufacture of Cuban cigars.

No smoking at cigar bars?

At Jake’s Cigars & Spirits in Omaha’s Benson area, customers were still puffing Thursday on thick-masted Perdomos and Rocky Patels. They might need to enjoy them while they still can. A Lincoln judge’s ruling earlier this week might snuff out the exemptions that cigar bars, tobacco shops and designated motel rooms enjoy to the state’s two-year-old smoking ban. Lancaster County District Judge Jodi Nelson, citing a 2008 court decision on Omaha’s smoking ban, ruled that those three exemptions were unconstitutional “special legislation” for a specific group and should be wiped out.

Members-only cigar club to open in January

Downtown Scottsdale soon will be a destination for cigar connoisseurs. During the first week of January, a high-end, members-only cigar bar will open in the previous upper-level space of the Estate House restaurant, which closed in October.
