Farmers Threaten Factory Owners over Falling Tobacco Prices

Thousands of tobacco farmers in Jember, East Java, are threatening to stage a massive rally at cigarette warehouses and factories. They will be protesting against the falling tobacco prices.
“We are fed up with the performance of the local government and the Tobacco Commission as well as the attitude of the cigarette warehouse and factory owners who do not care about the farmers,” said a tobacco farmer, Jumantoro, Tuesday, 28 August 2012.
