A row over the appointment of a Chinese tobacco scientist to a prestigious academy intensified this week when almost 100 leading thinkers signed a letter protesting the move.

A man and woman living in a Doylestown Township house with five children ranging in age from 10 to 17 years old were arrested on child endangerment and drug charges after police found a marijuana growing operation in the basement of their home.

Caren Shanfeld, 45, and Francis J. Medvedik, 49, of the 2000 block of Par Drive, were arraigned Tuesday before District Judge Mark Douple in Doylestown Township. Both were released under $100,000 unsecured bail. Ream more »

New York cigar smokers received some good news Tuesday when the State Parks Department announced it is suspending its own ban on smoking in parks, a mere 50 days after it was instituted.
